A compilation of experiences in Penang from the lens of Olivia Genobaga during the Summer of 2024.

A seamstress weaves traditional tapestry in the Sarawak Cultural Village, one of our first stops on the trip.

Adam and Eddie take refuge from the sweltering sun under a bus stop near Fort Margherita in Penang.

Pictured left is a small pagoda tower at Kek Lok Si Temple.

Pictured right is what can only be described as “girlhood”, we all gathered outside for pictures with my treasured digital camera after a night out at a random sushi restaurant in Penang.

The view from the Sarawak Cultural Village was striking, starkly contrasting the sprawling urban landscape of Singapore.

The ever-alluring “cheese pull” captured on camera at the Ceylonese Restaurant in Sarawak. They claimed to serve the best cheese naan in the world, and I’d put good money on those words.

We made some new friends early into our trip at the X, Y, Z nature preserve, where we were afforded the opportunity to see over twelve orangutans come out during feeding time. One of the park rangers described it as a record number in several years.

Grab was our primary mode of transportation in Malaysia in place of Uber where public transit was not available. In Singapore, we rarely had to resort to Grab as the underground metro and bus system took care of most of our transportation hassles.

A photo taken purely for the “aesthetic” as the kids would say. These were some Japanese style lanterns I saw hanging outside of a sushi restaurant in Sarawak.
